MEDIA ADVISORY: New Affordable Housing Development Groundbreaking Ceremony

Groundbreaking of New Affordable Housing Community in Jacksonville
May 13, 2024

What:
The city of Jacksonville will soon benefit from the addition of 90 affordable rental homes — thanks to the collaborative efforts of public, private and nonprofit organizations.

Leaders from Ability Housing, the City of Jacksonville, the Florida Housing Financial Corporation  and EverBank will gather to break ground on the Village at Cedar Hills: a brand-new, 90-unit apartment community. Seventy-two units will be designed for households earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), and the remainder will be available to households earning up to 30% of the AMI.

This new community will serve households that are often priced out of the market-rate rental landscape, ensuring that working families can afford to live and thrive in Jacksonville. During the first three years of the development, 18 units will be set aside as a part of an innovative pilot project designed to reduce the reliance of high utilizers of crisis services on emergency and other acute care services by providing them with stable, supportive housing coupled with comprehensive behavioral health care services.
