HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital Launches Interfacility Transport Services

Jacksonville, Florida – June 17, 2024 – HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital launched its interfacility transport services today at its Blessing of the Fleet. Team members and first responders gathered to recognize the valuable lives that will be transported in the ambulances as a result of this new service.

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital treats thousands of patients each year at its Emergency Departments (more than 120,000 in 2023), with a large portion transported by agencies and organization that comprise the local EMS system. The new interfacility transport service will supplement the work of our local first responders by allowing ALS-certified EMTs and paramedics to transport HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital patients between its hospital and freestanding emergency departments.

“At HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital, we continue to look for ways to further improve our care delivery to the local community,” says Jeff Taylor, Chief Executive Officer at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. “The new interfacility transport service will extend the reach of emergency services at our facilities and help our care teams provide timely, high-quality care to community members in their time of need.”

Over the past 50 years, HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital has grown from a small-town community hospital to a large tertiary facility, offering high-acuity specialized services. The interfacility transport service is the most recent project in HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital’s commitment to add services and facilities to meet community growth and improve patient care.

Currently, the hospital is working on:

  • Expanding the capacity of its CARF-certified inpatient rehabilitation facility from 20 to 42 beds
  • Increasing cardiovascular care capabilities
  • Modernizing and expanding imaging assets and services by upgrading its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine and adding an additional scanner, purchasing two new computed tomography (CT) machines and opening two new fluoroscopy rooms

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is continuing its development to meet the growing needs and increased complexity of care in the community.
