Jacksonville Public Education Fund Offering Financial Assistance to Teachers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF) is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Resiliency Through Community mini classroom teacher assistance. This initiative provides $300 in funding to help teachers enhance their classrooms with much-needed supplies and resources, supporting their efforts to create engaging and effective learning environments for their students.

“My students come from very low-income homes, where their parents don’t have the extra funds. I’m glad programs like this allow me to have extra supplies for the students in need,” says middle school teacher Tyrah Stewart, who plans on applying for the funding.

Admin and staff are ineligible for this funding. JPEF encourages teachers to complete the application thoroughly. Up to 15 teachers will be awarded funds. To be eligible, teachers must,

  • Apply before the August 16 deadline
  • Be a full-time Duval County teacher
  • Be a student facing 75% of their day

Selected recipients will receive an email with instructions on accessing the funds, the timeline for expenditure, and guidelines on permissible and non-permissible uses. Additionally, JPEF will invite recipients to participate in a social media takeover to showcase how the funds benefited their students and the overall outcomes.

JPEF president Rachael Tutwiler-Fortune says, “Teachers often come out of pocket to invest in their students and classrooms. Classroom funds are important because they pour back into teachers and their classrooms, lessening those out-of-pocket expenses for our hardworking educators who are so willing to give everything they have to benefit their students. This opportunity is especially relevant and important as the back-to-school season approaches."

Teachers should apply as soon as possible, as the application deadline is August 16. Click here to apply.
