Cummer Museum Announces Sixth Annual Summer at the Cummer

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens offers free museum admission and music

on Friday evenings through August 9, 2024

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — July 25, 2024 — The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens today announced the return of its annual Summer at the Cummer event series, July 19 through August 9, 2024, presented by Barbara English.

Summer at the Cummer is a free series that activates the Cummer Museum’s campus on Fridays throughout the summer from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Each week brings live music by some of the city’s top musicians, hands-on art making experiences, lawn games and more. Summer at the Cummer also allows guests to take advantage of full access to the Museum’s historically significant riverfront gardens, galleries featuring the permanent collection and special exhibitions, including Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories organized by the Museum of Fine Art, Boston and Mick Namarari Tjapaltjarri: Mysteries that Remain.

“Summer at the Cummer encapsulates the best of what makes our community special,” said English. “It brings together people from every neighborhood in the city to enjoy beauty, nature, music and great food for an evening of fun.”

During each Summer at the Cummer event, attendees will be able to order food and beverages from the Cummer Café, including beer, wine and cocktails. Guests will also have the opportunity to pre-order picnic baskets to enjoy sunset on the river and dine picnic-style in the gardens.

“We are grateful to Barbara English for partnering with us to provide this beloved series for the community to enjoy for a sixth year,” said Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, Ph.D., George W. and Kathleen I. Gibbs Director and CEO of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. “Summer at the Cummer honors Ninah Cummer’s vision for the museum to be a center of beauty for all of Jacksonville.
