Mateusz Jasik

Director's Representative for Promotion and Outreach

Graduate of history at the University of Gdańsk and of postgraduate studies in culture management at the Gdańsk University of Technology. From 2010 to 2017, he was associated with the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, creating or co-creating nearly seventy educational and promotional projects. In 2017, he became Inspector in Mayor’s Office for Culture, the Municipality of Gdańsk, where he was responsible for such projects as Gdański Program Edukacji Kulturowej (Gdańsk cultural education programme). Since 2018, team member at the Museum of Gdańsk. He began his work there as Deputy Head of the Education Department. From 2020 to 2024, he managed the Guardhouse No. 1 at Westerplatte, branch of the Museum of Gdańsk. Curator of The Museum. What goes in? What goes on? and Sucharski. Images temporary exhibitions. Curator of the permanent exhibition at the Guardhouse No. 1 at Westerplatte. Author of academic and popular science articles on the dissemination of history and the politics of remembrance.

 

His original educational project Sekrety Enigmy (Secrets of Enigma) received honourable mentions in Sybilla Competition for the Museum Event of the Year 2015 and Pomorska Nagroda Muzealna 2016 (Pomeranian museum award). Originator and curator of the multimedia performance Westerplatte. Chiaroscuri, which received an honourable mention in Pomorska Nagroda Muzealna 2019. One of the four curators of I’d Rather Not Talk About It. The Identity of Gdańsk Inhabitants and the Post-War Reality awarded at the 44th Sybilla Competition for the Museum Event of the Year 2023 (Temporary Exhibition) and Pomorska Nagroda Muzealna 2024.

 

From 2017 to 2022, he was involved with rescue association Stowarzyszenie Na Rzecz Ratownictwa Adiutare, in which he served as Rescue Officer, and from 2020 to 2021, with association Stowarzyszenie Stara Papiernia in Łapino. Volunteer for the World Association of Home Army Soldiers (Vice President of the Board of Gdańsk Club) and for the association for the Home Army quarters at Łostowicki Cemetery – Stowarzyszenia Kwatera Akowska na Cmentarzu Łostowickim (Secretary of the Board).
