The scope of the project includes roadway preparation, micro surfacing, and pavement restriping. The selected pavement preservation strategy for this project, “micro surfacing,” involves placing a mixture of emulsion and fine aggregate on the asphalt surface. This treatment slows pavement deterioration caused by weather elements.
How will you be impacted ?
This work requires some streets to be closed or have restricted travel access on the day of the scheduled work. This requires residential streets to be closed for 6 to 8 hours. Non-residential roads (the arterial and collector roads) will be passable under traffic control measures with up to 10 minute delays. If your driveway is on a road listed for treatment, you will need to plan for having limited access to your driveway during the performance of this work.
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED LIST OF IMPACTED ROADS AND RELATED DATES/TIMES, AS WELL AS COLOR CODED MAPS.
A notice will be placed at your front door or in plain view detailing the start date and duration of the work. You will also notice temporarily “No Parking” signs on the impacted streets with specific dates and times displayed. “No Parking” signs will be posted 48 to 72 hours in advance of the work that will restrict parking.
What do you need to do to prepare?
• On the day your street is sealed, mail delivery may be delayed until the next day. Please coordinate with the Postal Service to pick up important mail at the post office that day.
• Please schedule home services and special deliveries accordingly.
• Please turn off any sprinklers that may drain water to the street.
On the day of your streets scheduled work:
If you do NOT plan to leave your home before 8AM on the day your street is scheduled to be sealed and you will need to use your vehicle later in the day, please park your car on an adjacent street that is not designated as a "No Parking" zone. Please note that walking and biking on the sealed street surface will NOT be possible because of the wet materials on the road.
Active emergency service vehicles will always have full access to these roads.
A successful street maintenance program relies on your cooperation. Please note the following:
• Please do not leave your driveway after the noise and activity of the crew has left, as this is the curing time for the ‘wet oil’ to dry.
• Do not drive, walk, play, skate or allow pets on the sealed street until it has dried. Walking on the newly sealed street will leave black residue on the bottom of your shoes. The residue is known to damage some surfaces, will mark all surfaces that you track it on, and will be very difficult to remove.
• Wait at least 24 hours after the road has been reopened before washing your car or turning on any sprinklers.
• On your regularly scheduled garbage collection day, please put out your carts like you normally: service impact is not anticipated.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while this work is underway.
