In partnership with San Rafael Fire Department, Marinwood CSD is once again conducting no-cost residential home hardening and defensible space property evaluations. Specially trained inspectors are currently going door-to-door to every residence within the District. This no-charge service is intended to educate and encourage property owners on specific actions they can take to better protect their homes in the event of wildfire. Assessments are made from the public right of way though residents do have the option to allow the inspectors onto your property to provide a complete 360-degree evaluation. Results are documented and provided to each property evaluated. Any questions regarding the residential property assessments should be sent to [email protected] or you may call the hotline at 415-485-3054.

On behalf of Marinwood CSD, thank you to all residents who have already begun the tasks of protecting your personal property. The combined efforts of the CSD as well as every resident will play a major role in helping keep our community safer in the event of a wildfire tragedy.

Goats Are Returning to Marinwood Open Space.

District Manager Eric Dreikosen from Marinwood Community Service District · 28 May

Beginning this week, Marinwood CSD Open Space will once again host a large herd of goats grazing the seasonal grasses and other flashy fuels in effort to create critical defensible space fire prevention zones near homes and residences.

Specific grazing areas are similar to past years and include:
-Queenstone Fire Road extending West behind the residences along Miller Creek Road and Idylberry Road.
-Grasshopper Hill area near Johnstone Drive, Heatherstone Drive and Blackstone Drive.
We anticipate the grazing activity to remain in the area for the next two weeks as needed. A professional handler will be staying with the herd in the nearby vicinity and will be moving the herd when needed.

Recognizing the goats tend to attract a lot of attention, please stay an adequate distance away from the herd fencing and DO NOT attempt to pet or feed the goats. Additionally, please keep all dogs leashed while in the vicinity of the goats. We did experience an incident in a past year involving an unleashed dog entering the goats enclosure and attacking a goat causing significant harm.

We ask that you exercise care when entering the open space and use established trails as some areas are not easily accessible by foot. Additionally, we may need to temporarily restrict access to portions of trails and/or open space areas to allow for the most effective and efficient grazing possible and ask that all such temporary restrictions are observed and obeyed.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this closure. Thank you for your understanding.

Reminder to Share Your Opinion with Marinwood's Community Survey Regarding Pickleball and Tennis Usage!

Asst. Recreation Director Robyn Bruton from Marinwood Community Service District · 7 Mar

Marinwood CSD is currently considering adding pickleball lines to one or both of the lower Marinwood Park Tennis Courts (Courts 3 & 4), adjacent to Miller Creek Middle School, to create multi-sport courts that can accommodate both tennis and pickleball.
To help guide the decision-making process, Marinwood CSD is seeking public input to better understand the current desire for pickleball courts as well as any potential concerns. We are asking all interested community members to please complete the following brief survey. Survey results will be shared and discussed at the Marinwood CSD Park & Recreation Commission meeting scheduled for March 26, 2024 at 7:00pm in the classroom. Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.
