Witnesses informed the officers that someone had used an aerosol can to spray black Swastikas on Ukrainian flags displayed on private property. As our officers investigated this report, they contacted the victims and confirmed that an unknown suspect(s) had indeed vandalized the flag sometime between the evening hours of March 22, 2024 and the morning of March 23, 2024. During the initial investigation, officers located a second victim in the area of Molino Avenue and Wildomar Street and determined that their Ukrainian flag had also been vandalized in the same manner, during the same time period. Our officers thoroughly searched the area for witnesses and homes with surveillance systems that might have recorded these crimes. Despite the ongoing review of many hours of video surveillance by Mill Valley detectives, no suspects have been identified at this stage of the investigation. The detectives are treating this incident as a hate crime and urge residents in these areas to continue checking their surveillance systems for any video footage that could aid in the investigation.
