somewhat classy dim-sum joint. Great for lunch if working downtown.

We got to Yank Sing right as they opened on a reservation and were seated pretty much immediately, and man are they fast! The food-carts have very friendly and patient service for a Dim Sum place, which we really appreciated. They took their time to walk you through everything on each cart and gave you a little sales pitch for what you might like (not pushy at all, just excited for you to try).
All the dim sum was very strong, their soup dumplings were great, and it was some of the best chicken feet I've ever had. My wife doesn't eat pork or shrimp, but they had a really nice large menu of veg and chicken -- she got the veg curry dumplings and loved them so much that we got a second order.
SF has a lot of great Dim Sum, and this place definitely makes the cut!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 8 jun 2024
had high hopes because of the google ratings but was kinda underwhelmed. loved the traditional pushcart style but the staff were really rushing us into ordering as many plates as possible the moment we sat down. the menu doesn't offer some dimsum classics like steamed rice rolls, baos.
the food was nice but quite overpriced. there's better and more affordable dimsum places in sf in my opinionHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 18 mei 2024
Had really high expectations for this place after hearing everyone rave about it but it fell short. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the xiao long bao. Har gow were small and flavor was just ok. Siu mai were tiny as well and looked shriveled. The company I was with enjoyed them. I liked the chicken and mushroom dumplings which were unique as I've never had them at any other dim sum spot before. The shrimp and chive dumplings were ok as well. Nothing amazing.
I would come back if someone suggested it, but prob would skip for the other spots in town.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1 sep 2024
Definitely lived up to the hype when looking up dim sum spots. They definitely ran it like a high-end restaurant and can turn over their tables very quickly. Service, as mentioned by the well-oiled machine, was great but need to mention we were one of the first people there when it opened since we had to head to the airport. Every dish we had on the menu was great for dim sum. Don't remember getting anything that didn't taste great. The tea was exceptional as well.

Having been to Asia many times and also previously living in Oakland, we are quite accustomed to what good dim sum is. The food here is OK and the service is excellent, but it is very cater towards Americans. It is quite overpriced and although the seafood and pork are fresh It's a little things like the details that cost me to knock a few stars off. For example, for the shrimp dumpling, the skin was really thick, chewy and cold.

I had forgotten just how great this place is. We had to come up to the city and literally took the 0630 Sunday flight to be able to accommodate Yank Sing's lunch hours. Everything was phenomenal but my favorite this time was the shrimp and green onion dumplings. They come in an order of 3 but should really come by the dozen.

We walked right in on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation, though the place was super busy. Within a minute of sitting down, those delicious carts of goodness were making their rounds. I loved the soupy dumplings and seafood dumplings the most. Their spicy chicken was also super tasty. Unfortunately my eyes were bigger than my stomach and we ordered too much and got full faster than we anticipated. Rookie move. I really like that Yank Sing makes you feel welcome - no intimidation for not knowing anything about Dim Sum or how to order. Will be back on future SF trips.

Great variety of dumplings, including vegetarian! Quick service! Would come here more often if we didn't live in the south bay!

Service was great! We made a reservation online before the lunch rush and glad we did because they do get busy. I enjoyed the crab claw and chicken feet. This place is good if you don't know much about dim sum or if it's your first time. There are other spots that are better and have better prices. I would recommend them if you're new to dim sum and in the area.

Not authentic dim sum :(
I was so excited about trying Yank Sing and especially how it was on the Michelin Guide but it was so not worth it.
There is a long wait as to any dim sum restaurant but once we got seated the service was amazing. The carts kept coming around with food and the ladies were so sweet.
I grew up eating dim sum and it's one of my favorite things to eat. Everything here is super not authentic. The menu is super small compared to other Dim Sum restaurants. The hai gow had the thickest skin and the sui mai was so dense.
I went with my Chinese friends they weren't a big fan also. This dim sum is definitely more westernized and is more expensive.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
