Golden Gate Grill

This restaurant was a referral by Patrick at the Columbia Employee Store, and boy, this place did not disappoint. Patrick warned us to hurry since it was 530p on a Friday and the restaurant would be closing in 30 minutes. Tons of free street parking. Friendly staff. Good, reasonably priced menu. Kid friendly. While the burger had a special (my buddy took part), I opted for the crispy chicken sandwich, fries and a tangerine shake. The kid wanted a grilled cheese, which was not on the menu, but the lady made one anyways. I will always recognize and give props for restaurants where they will go off menu for requests! The chicken sandwich was tasty. The fries were crispy. The tangerine shake was like a dreamsicle. I will definitely try the burger the next time I am in the area.

Their chicken sandwich is sooooooo amazing and perfectly cooked!! You won't regret it. The burgers and incredible too!

Even better the people that work there are so friendly and sweet! I even got free cookies one time. How can you go wrong with cookie gifts???

I've been coming here every day since they reopened the days I work at the refinery. Their food is always spot on nothing but the best the staffs the best. I'd like to give a shout out to Cymande and Shanell like to thank you young ladies for some of the best service a patron could ask for. I can't say enough their coleslaw is excellent the potato salad is the best everything's top shelf if they don't make it they have it brought in from somebody that makes it local all I can say is five stars you've got to try it!!!

Arg (yes I used arg) I had such high hopes for this place. I got the veggie burger and it instantly fell apart with the first bite. The bun was just too tough that it squished the patty and it poured out. By half way I was spooning it back into the bun. Also didn't have much flavor, I had to add ketchup and mustard...you shouldn't have to do that with any burger. Sorry guys, maybe I'll come back to try something else but it'll be awhile. Eat well and stay safe -ant

Hey, just heard today (2/08/2021) that this place has reopened as "Golden Gate Bistro" serving breakfast & lunch weekdays & brunch on weekends.

This sandwich/burger/salad place located on the way to the ferry sells delicious burgers and salads at a low price. There is street parking and a nicely landscaped patio with folding tables and chairs.

The sandwiches and burgers are all made with PREMIUM meats from the adjacent (wholesale only) Golden Gate Meats ( of Ferry Building Fame).

The meatball special sandwich is world class.

Open at 5:00 AM for coffee and pastry.

A note to the management:

The lady taking the orders can sometimes seem like she's in a really pissy mood. Today while she was taking my order, a truck went by and I guess she couldn't hear me well. When I gave her my name for the order she responded oddly, saying 'I called you sir, okay?' Huh? There was some strange lack of communication going on for sure. Mainly I could just tell that she was in a bad mood.

The lady who gives out the orders is markedly friendlier so there is something up.

Golden Gate Grill is truly one of Richmond's hidden gems. I have been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have not been disappointed with any of their meals! I can be very picky about my burgers, but GGG has cooked them just the way I like each time. Their milkshakes are also delicious, which is a nice plus. The staff are very friendly and provide excellent service. I would definitely recommend this spot!

Was recommended this place by a couple of my coworkers so I decided to give it a shot myself. I ordered online thru yelp which takes you to their website. This makes ordering super easy and you just go to pick your order on time without having to wait. I ordered the 3g burger and the crispy fries. Great quality burger and fresh ingredients. I ordered medium well this time but next time I may try just medium as I like my burgers a little juicy. The crispy fries were done just right. The right amount of crunch and salt.
Pro tip: get their chipotle aioli and add a packet of ketchup in it then add it to whatever you're eating. Thank me later ;)
