I don't get the hype but it was decent enough for a Sunday afternoon lunch. My boyfriend liked it more than I did-he was really digging his crispy tacos. I got a seasonal veggie quesadilla that had crimini mushrooms and a smoky tomatoe salsa. It was alright. Chips are separate-wish I got some after seeing the chips and guacamole that others around me ordered.
Nothing that spectacular-but decent enough and reasonably priced for 4th streetHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 14 Sept 2024
I have cravings for their tortas al pastor !!! Dreams of buttery crunchy roll aoili cabbage and the tasting pastor out of the 10 Mexican restaurants I have tried !
their fish tacos and pastor taco were filled to the brim with yumminess . Needs a fork !
Everything is fresh and delish !
I would prefer table service in house instead of ordering and getting a number.
Everything was great as a delivery as well!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jovani L.Davis, United States14910429 Aug 2024
Ok honest review as a Mexican myself. We came here expecting mid overpriced food due to the location and the clientele (hwite ppl), and yeah the tacos cost more than the usual market price for tacos.
BUT...
The food was actually very good. I came with my hungry ass girlfriend and she was hesitant too but we got two tacos for her and they are made with hand made tortillas (very cool). Full of meat and the salsas on them is legit (very nice). We also got a corn on the cob and it was really good too (she loves corn).
Service is very polite and ready to tend to your requests. I can't say much for the ambiance since I wasn't here for long (gf devoured food in seconds) but the restaurant is very nice and appealing and the music is bumping -for latinos at least-.

We came here today for a quick lunch while we were looking at furniture stores for a new sofa.
This seems to be a new location for this restaurant. It's very big but feels like a giant basement. Service is very fast. The front desk could be a little more friendly.
Water is self serve. We tried a crunchy chicken taco which was pretty good. It came with a lot of pickled jalapenos.
The battered fish taco was tasty but was not crunchy at all. The al pastor taco had very good flavor too but the texture was weird.
This is one of the few restaurants in the area that has their own bathroom which is very convenient. Prices are very good but in order to get a plate with rice or beans, the Astros add up quickly. For sample enchiladas are $14. But beans is 3.75 and rice is 3.75
so that would add up to over $20 for a plate with rice and beans.
I think the flavors are interesting at this taqueria. I will definitely come back here again to try other things.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 018 Sept 2007Previous reviewThe first time I came here, the Niman Ranch tongue taco was the best I've ever had but the second time, it was just good (very little meat and very little tomatillo salsa). It was weird that the second time I ordered this taco, it came with a lime and pickled veggies. The lime actually overpowered the flavors of the taco. These tacos are really small-- it's basicly a baby taco so for 3.25, it should be something special but it wasn't.
My husband ordered the Tamal (shredded pork and mole) and he liked it. I tasted the sauce and it was pretty good mole (intense) so if you like mole then order the Tamal. We also had the Sope de Chorizo yPapas (crispy masa cake with toppings), it was burnt and overly salty. It did have a nice presentation and if you're having something very simple like tacos or chips/salsa then the Sope de Chorizo is a nice salty combination.
My husband also enjoyed the Tamal de Verduras (veggie tamale). Again, very small portions. He had to order sides like the Frijoles Pintos (mashed beans with chorizo) which was very good and the crispy masa but that still wasn't enough to fill him up.
Come here and order lots-- size portions are like tapas. It's definitely one of the more affordable and interesting places to eat if you're going to 4th Street Berkeley for shopping. - 7 Sept 20241 check-in
Stopped in for happy hour, great ambiance and service. However, the food was simply very bland. I ordered the fish tacos and a side of guacamole and chips. The fish tacos only had cabbage and a bit of sauce. They needed more crema and some sort of salsa. The guacamole portion was very small compared to the chips. The guacamole was also very bland, had to add hot sauce to both dishes, and I don't prefer everything drenched in spice. I would give this place another try and see if anything improves.

I've been wanting to try Tacubaya for quite some time now on 4th Street, Berk. What a fun treat!
If you haven't visited 4th Street in a while, there are a few new shops/restaurants to check out. Tacubaya has been a staple for a bit of time and upon walking in, you're greeted by vibrant colors, atmosphere, and beautiful indoor dining aesthetics. This is an order-at-register type spot with a wide array of fresh Mexican dishes and flavor options.
Our party ordered fish tacos, guac & chips, ensalada de primavera, and chicken enchiladas. To note, the plates are mostly served a la carte, so def. something to keep in mind if you're with a large group and want to explore your tastebuds! Besides lunch, they also serve brunch options, happy hour, dinner, dessert, and a beautiful beer/wine/cocktail menu.
The food was delicious, enchiladas were clean and tastefully done. Huge fan of table guac and this didn't disappoint. Looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu and with the weather starting to improve, sit outside.
Plenty of street parking and a lot outside of restaurant (does get busy, so plan ahead!)Helpful 16Thanks 3Love this 14Oh no 0 - 20 Jul 2024
The food was alright - I felt the chicken wasn't very flavorful and for some reason the red sauce was a bit sour. A great bang for your buck though I found it to be a very affordable option for food in berkley! This is also a restaurant with plenty of seating - decent decor and one of those in which you typically bus yourself.

Is the first time that we visit this restaurant but , Since we get inside the small was bad and then the restroom smells a lot a urine . We order some tortilla soup and torta but the soup taste was horrible that make my stomach feel sick

Good place. The fish tacos had a bit too much breading and too soft instead of crispy but they were still good tacos. I love the color scheme and interior of the place. Very aesthetic and brightly colored.

Pretty solid food in the 4th Street area! Rarely a wait. Nice indoor and outdoor seating options. I like their chilaquiles. Though it's always a toss up if you're gonna get green or red sauce
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Still great! Margaritas are yummy as well :)Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
