The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Marcus Antonio Williams, (50), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 7:25 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to the 600 block of 1st Street North on report of a Shot Spotter alert. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a male victim inside of a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Details are limited in this investigation. Currently, there is no one in custody.
