Boston Marathon 2021: Track Birmingham Area Runners

BOSTON, MA — The Boston marathon is underway, which means 35 runners from the Birmingham metro are making their 26.2-mile journey from Hopkinton to the famed Boylston Street finish line in Boston.

To track a particular runner, go to the Boston Athletic Association's tracker. You can search participants via electronic chips if you have their bib number, name or city/town they are from. This year has staggered start times; everyone will have left the start line by 10 a.m. CT.

The Boston Marathon is being run in October for the first time after being postponed and ultimately canceled in 2020 and delayed this year. Race officials said the marathon will return back to its traditional Patriots Day date beginning next year.
