Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- In Jefferson County, three people were killed and one was injured following a crash on Saturday night. The incident occurred on Blackie Curren Road just before 10:00 p.m. Deputies reported finding a black Honda Civic that crashed into the ravine. The female driver, a female passenger, and a male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while another male passenger was taken to UAB Hospital. Jefferson County Sheriffβs Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate. (WVTM)
- In case you missed it, a section of the University of Alabama (UAB) gospel choir recently visited Wales in honor of a longstanding relationship between Birmingham and the country. Following the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church, Welsh artist John Petts decided to create and install a new stained glass window for the church, which hangs in the church to this day. Dr. Reginald Jackson and a group of UAB students visited Wales in June to perform at Urdd Eisteddfod in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire. Students learned Welsh gospel music and attended the unveiling of an anti-racism mural. (BBC)
- In nearby Bessemer, a 21-year-old man has died following a shooting on Saturday. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office reported that Rishard Jamell Densmore was shot on Harmony Drive. Densmore was taken to a hospital where he died shortly after 6:00 p.m. (ABC 3340)
