Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. Deputies are searching for four people in the Birmingham area who are believed to be armed and dangerous. Marion County deputies reported that a home invasion occurred in the Bexar community on Tuesday evening, and four people left the area in a 2017 silver Jeep Renegade. The vehicle had a Texas license plate with the number LWP9983. Deputies believe the suspects are in or around Birmingham. If anyone has information, they are asked to call 911 or 205-921-7433. (WVTM13)
  2. Birmingham Fire and Rescue recently celebrated 79 graduating new recruits and several current members' promotions. Battalion Chief Tobias Jones said it's one of the largest graduating classes in the department's history. He said that 50 new recruits are already working in the field, and the other 30 will join them this weekend. Jones said that filling open positions increases safety in the community. (WBRC)
  3. A Jefferson County homeowner shot a suspected burglar on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred on Dean Road in the eastern part of the county. The wounded suspected burglar was transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A spokesman with the sheriff's office said that the homeowner and the suspect did not have a preexisting relationship, and the investigation is ongoing. (AL.com)
