Founder of Birmingham's Popular Saw's BBQ Dies

BIRMINGHAM, AL β€” The founder of one of Birmingham's most popular local barbecue restaurant franchises died over Labor Day weekend. Mike Wilson, founder of Saw's BBQ, died at the age of 46, according to a statement on social media by the restaurant.

Wilson opened his first restaurant in 2009 in Homewood, and then opened four others, including locations in Avondale and in Crestline Park.

Wilson was a native of North Carolina, and a graduate of the University of Alabama and Johnson & Wales University in Vail.
