BIRMINGHAM, AL β€” As November reaches its halfway point, colder air is making its way into Alabama, as the coming weekend calls for a freeze watch for most of the state.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a freeze watch, which is in effect as far south as Jackson, Camden, Troy and Eufaula. The low Sunday morning will be between 27 and 33 degrees for most communities, followed by a high in the upper 50s.

"Another cold front will pass through tonight in dry fashion, and the weekend will be noticeably colder," meteorologist James Spann said. "Despite a sunny sky Saturday, temperatures won’t get past the low 50s over the northern third of Alabama. Sunday will be sunny with a morning freeze likely in most places."

Spann said dry weather will continue Monday through Thursday with highs mostly in the 60s and lows mostly in the 30s and 40s.

"A cold front could bring some light rain to north Alabama late Thursday or Thursday night, but models continue to trend drier," Spann said. "There’s still no sign of any severe weather threat for Alabama for the next seven to 10 days."
