BIRMINGHAM, AL β€” One of Birmingham's long-standing members of its bar community is closing its doors indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dave's Pub in 5 Points South made the announcement on social media Tuesday.

"Due to some issues related with the strain Covid-19 has caused so many of our local small businesses in Birmingham and across the U.S., we have unfortunately made the decision to TEMPORARILY close our doors," the post said. "We’re not sure yet on the length of time, but please keep an eye on our social media pages for any updates we post about re-opening. A huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you that has supported Dave’s Pub!!! We hope these issues can be solved soon so we can continue serving the Birmingham and surrounding community as we have for the past 25 years!"

Dave's opened in 1995 and has been able to weather most of the financial storms that have closed several neighboring restaurants and bars in the 5 Points South district. Located at 1128 20th St. S.Dave's has long been one of the most popular spots in Birmingham's nightlife scene.
