Mixed Use Project Slated For Former High School Campus

BIRMINGHAM, AL — What was the site of Ensley High School for nearly 100 years may now become apartments and retail space. A public hearing is scheduled for the Birmingham City Council in March to discuss the rezoning of 2301 Avenue J, according to the Birmingham Business Journal.

The mixed-use project proposal would bring 244 apartments and a 15,000-square-foot commercial development to the property. The plan has previously been recommended by both the Zoning Advisory Committee and the Planning & Zoning Committee.
