🌱 Shooting Near Marathon Gas Station + 11th Annual Mason Music Fest

  1. The Birmingham police are currently investigating a shooting that took place on Monday, Jul. 3, around 2:30 a.m. near the Marathon gas station on 10th Street and Fourth Avenue North. The two male victims waved down the police after the incident and soon after, the officers that were present attempted CPR while they waited for the Birmingham Fire and Rescue team. Despite their efforts, one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene soon after; the other victim’s condition is unknown at this time. As of right now, there have been no arrests made, suspects, or known motives. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  2. On Monday, Jul. 3, around 2:00 a.m., four juveniles were involved in a police chase that started in Vestavia Hills and ended on Highland Avenue in Birmingham. According to police Lt. Michael Keller, the driver of the vehicle was driving recklessly on U.S. 31 near Kentucky Avenue, and when the police tried to pull them over, the driver failed to stop. All four individuals are facing charges after flipping the car several times due to reckless driving and failing to stop for the police. (AL.com)
  3. The Birmingham community is looking forward to the 11th annual Mason Music Fest which will take place on Saturday, Jul. 29, at Avondale Brewing Company. The event will include musical artists such as Carver Commodore, Annie DiRusso, The Secret Sisters, The New Respects, Colony House, and Futurebirds. Individuals can purchase general admission tickets for $49 and VIP tickets for $150, and all of the proceeds will go towards benefiting the nonprofit Mason Music Foundation. (Village Living)
