  1. The Ross Bridge golf course is confirmed to reopen on Oct. 13, following a groundskeeping error by a crew member that destroyed most of the course's greens last year. During the closure this year, putting surfaces got a new grass treatment which will result in firmer, smoother green surfaces. Additionally, every bunker on the course was also renovated with fresh drainage systems, and architectural changes were also made to several holes on the course. Tee times are available online. 2. Amid debates occurring across the state over censorship in public libraries, the North Shelby Library (NSL) Board released a statement in an effort to combat "misinformation" being spread by Rep. Susan Dubose (R-Hoover). In June, Dubose made claims that a Pride display at the North Shelby Library was inappropriate. The NSL Board cited that over 8,600 people visited the library in June, and only about 1 percent expressed an opinion about the display β€” and invited all community members to visit the library and see the work they are doing. 3. The University of Alabama at Birmingham hosted the Hoover Invitational golf tournament on Monday, Sep. 18 and today, Sep. 19 at Hoover Country Club. The Blazers welcomed eight teams to Hoover, including Austin Peay, Jacksonville, North Alabama, Queens, Samford, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, and Troy. The tournament included 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday β€” the course was a par 72, which plays 6,101 yards. (UAB Blazers)
