  1. Mountain Brook residents that live in the vicinity of an area known as The Cut, a small part of street between Mountain Avenue and Richmar Drive, expressed concerns over flooding during the latest City Council meeting. The meeting also included a general conversation about reviewing the city's "codes and ordinances regarding storm water management." (Village Living)
  2. High school senior Jack Heaps has been named the 2023 Class 6A winner of the Larry Striplin Jr. Scholar-Athlete Award, which earns him a $6,500 scholarship. He's a member of the varsity soccer team and also joined the football team late last season. (Village Living)
  3. A bill sponsored by Mountain Brook's Rep. David Faulkner unanimously passed the Alabama House of Representatives this week. It would "stipulate that liability for an alcohol-serving establishment would only exist if a worker served a patron 'who was visibly intoxicated.'" It's intended to serve as incentive to servers to not over-serve patrons and to lower the price of liquor liability insurance. (Alabama Daily News)
