  1. A Food Giant grocery store has opened in the Five Points West neighborhood. Prior to this store opening, this part of Birmingham was a food desert, meaning there was not access to grocery stores or fresh food in this neighborhood. (AL News)
  2. A nearby kidnapping case has been resolved, with both suspects imprisoned on federal charges. The man who was kidnapped, 75-year-old Elton B. Stephens Jr, remains safe in Birmingham, Alabama. (Garden & Gun)
  3. A 13-year-old girl was killed by a car crash on Thursday night. "Evidence suggests she had been walking with friends in the roadway when she was struck by a passing vehicle, then subsequently struck by a second vehicle traveling in the opposite direction," the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office announced in a press release.
