  1. Alabama has seen an increase in the number of "microbusinesses" with under 10 employees since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report. The biggest increases were in two rural counties–Randolph and Winston–but Jefferson has the greatest amount at 33,132. Microbusinesses are easier for entrepreneurs to start, with an investment of as little as $6,000. (AL.com)
  2. A Nashville-based app called GreenPal expanded to Mountain Brook last week. It connects residents to "vetted lawn care professionals" who can tend to their grounds, and has been launched in 250 other communities across the country. (Village Living)
