Here are the top stories today in Mountain Brook:

  1. Local Birmingham actor Davis Haines, who graduated from Mountain Brook High School, is staring in Red Mountain Theater's production of "Bright Star," a folk musical. Haines had been studying and performing in New York and Chicago up until the pandemic when he came back to Alabama and has helped put on local productions of "Kinky Boots" and other shows. (Alabama News Center)
  2. Narcan, an overdose reversal medication, will soon be available for purchase at pharmacies over the counter in Jefferson County. 120 people have died of overdoses in Jefferson County this year. Health experts say the medication can save lives, but its cost β€” $40 to $50 for two doses of a nasal spray β€” adds up. (WBRC 6)
  3. People from out of state, all the way from California to New York, are increasingly being drawn to the Birmingham area due to its relatively lower home prices. A new study found that eight out of the top 1o cities where people search for a home in Birmingham from are outside of Alabama. (Subscription/AL.com)
