  1. At its Monday meeting, the Mountain Brook City Council voted to put the Canterbury/Surrey drainage project out for bids, despite some objections from residents of the immediate area, who argued the project wouldn't solve their problems. The Council also confirmed four people to the First Responders Foundation and approved a list of streets to be paved over the next year. (Village Living)
  2. Ousler Sandwiches, a shop that first opened in 1915, is opening up in Lane Parke this April. The shop was founded by Dana Ousler, who passed it on to two longtime employees, who are now passing it on to their daughter and son-in-law. (AL.com)
  3. Mountain Brook's Congressman Gary Palmer is joining Congresswoman Terri Sewell to introduce legislation that would give the Congressional Gold Medal to the 761st Tank Battalion in honor of Black History Month. According to Palmer's statement, "They were on the front line for 183 straight days without being pulled and inflicted significant damage to German forces in November 1944. Fifty percent of the battalion suffered casualties, but their sacrifice helped propel the Allies to victory." (U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer via Twitter)
