  1. The Mountain Brook High School boys' basketball team "blasted" Parker on Thursday at the Class 6A Northeast Regional final, with a final score of 71 to 30. They'll now face Huffman on Tuesday at the regional final. (Village Living)
  2. The Environmental Protection Agency now says the Moody landfill fire is almost entirely put out, with smoke levels dropping since late January. Throughout its response the agency has hauled a total of 34 million pounds of dirt. (WVTM 13)

Birmingham is preparing for 'March Madness' basketball season, with the NCAA men’s basketball tournament returning to the city after 15 years, with teams set to compete in Legacy Arena on March 16 and 18. Birmingham City Councilor Darrel O’Quinn said it could mean millions in "economic impact" for the city. (CBS 42)
