  1. Congressman Gary Palmer spoke about national and local priorities during a talk at the Grand Bohemian Hotel last Thursday. Nationally, Palmer spoke about increasing natural gas production and next generation nuclear power, while also issuing concerns over China's growing influence on the global stage. Locally, he applauded construction on the Northern Beltline, which will connect U.S. 31 in Gardendale and Alabama Highway 75 in Pinson. (Village Living)
  2. Carson Rouleau, a high school student, is holding a weeklong drive through April 22, to collect old or damaged American flags. The flags can be dropped off at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church. Scouts from Troop 320, which Rouleau is a member of, will be stationed outside from noon to 3 p.m. daily. (Village Living)
  3. Mountain Brook is hosting a "Secure Paper Document Destruction and Electronic Recycling Day" on Saturday, April 22, in the high school parking lot. (City of Mountain Brook via Twitter)
