Glendale Science Teacher Gets Special Shout-Out: Meet Art Borja!

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

I am nominating Art Borja due to his commitment to Bayer School, our students, and for constantly seeking new ways to engage his students. He has literally spent all of his free time this summer on professional development to get ideas for new activities to engage our students. Many of these activities are at his own expense in terms of travel, housing and food costs. For a couple of activities, he was selected from a national pool of applicants, and it is a testament to his commitment that he was awarded a NASA grant and a fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Protection. I am a fairly new teacher, and Art served as my mentor as I embarked on becoming a math teacher. His tips on education skip all of the pedagogical jargon and center on practical advice that has proven very useful in my day-to-day teaching.
