Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. Phoenix's Banner University Medical Center has become the first hospital in the U.S. to adopt the POLARx cryoablation system, an advanced treatment for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation using two distinct balloon sizes for a more tailored approach. Dr. Wilber Su, the center's electrophysiology director, praised the FDA-approved technology for its efficiency and adaptability to different patient anatomies, resulting in enhanced outcomes. The device has already been used globally on over 25,000 patients. (KTAR.com)
  2. On the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, Franklin Police and Fire High School in Phoenix commemorated the heroic first responders who ascended the World Trade Center. Upperclassmen emulated the challenging climb, with some donning full firefighting equipment weighing between 50 and 75 pounds, and traversed approximately 74 flights of stairs in a symbolic tribute. Throughout the event, names of the fallen were recited, and teachers emphasized the importance of remembering the bravery and sacrifice demonstrated on that fateful day. (The Arizona Republic)
  3. Phoenix-based dog photographer Monica Adalsteinsson has transitioned from health care to capturing the bond between dogs and their owners with her business, Pup + Me Photo. Her upcoming photobook, "Tails of Phoenix," spotlights 25 local dogs and dedicates 100 percent of its profits to Almost There Rescue, a unique organization focused on aiding pregnant canines. Set to release in the spring, the book will be accepting pet stories for inclusion starting Sep. 30, while Adalsteinsson continues her mission to raise funds for local rescues and promote adoption.
