South Mountain Got Almost An Inch Of Rain Sunday, More In the Forecast

As the 2022 monsoon season continues, rain is a possibility for the rest of the week in Phoenix, according to the Accuweather forecast.

PHOENIX, AZ — While the rest of the Valley mostly received significantly less than an inch of rain during Sunday evening storms, the South Mountain area recorded 1.02 inches of rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.

Mesa had .82 inches, Goodyear reported .38 inches, Tempe got .26 inches and Sky Harbor Airport recorded .18 inches, according to the weather service's automated rain gauges across the Valley.

High wind speeds recorded on Sunday were 57 mph at Sky Harbor, 55 mph in Tempe and 48 mph in Scottsdale.

There are chances of thunderstorms all week in the Phoenix metro area, with 40 percent chances on Monday and Wednesday, a 25 percent chance Friday and a 63 percent chance Saturday, according to the Accuweather forecast.

Chances of thunderstorms on Tuesday and Thursday are 10 percent or lower.

Expected highs this week range from 104 to 107 degrees with hot overnight lows in the upper 80s. Overnight lows Monday and Tuesday were expected to be around 89 degrees.
