3 Structures Burn, Firefighter Hurt Amid Cabazon Blaze: 100% Contained

A fire broke out near Cabazon Friday, burning 3 structures and injuring two people—including a firefighter—both taken to a nearby hospital.

CABAZON, CA — Firefighters battled a vegetation fire in Cabazon Friday that burned through three structures and injured two people, including one firefighter, Cal Fire said. The blaze was fully contained as of 4:30 p.m., burning three structures in its wake.

The blaze was first reported shortly after 12:45 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Date Street and Lemon Street, south of I-10 Freeway in Cabazon.

"Two single-story structures in a residential neighborhood were involved," Spokesperson Alex Izaguirre said.

"One patient with moderate injuries and one firefighter with moderate injuries were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital," Cal Fire spokesperson Alex Izaguirre said. Firefighters will remain committed until approximately 7 p.m.

According to the department, the area's power was temporarily shut off and was expected to be restored by 5:30 p.m., according to So Cal Edison.
