Beaumont Unified School District Gets County Recognition

Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez awarded several community organizations, including the BUSD, at the annual State of the 5th District.

BEAUMONT, CA — The Beaumont Unified School District received a county nod this week.

On Wednesday, Riverside County Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez awarded several community organizations at the annual State of the 5th District held in Cabazon. The BUSD was recognized in the category of youth and education.

The district serves over 12,300 students and has more than 1,500 employees.

During the event's opening remarks, Guitterez said, "The state of our district is
strong, but more importantly, I believe that our district is helping our residents thrive in ways that are stronger than ever."

After several presentations by Riverside County representatives and leaders, Guitterez announced the recipients of the "Stakeholder Awards," which are presented to organizations that serve and strengthen the district.

When the BUSD was announced as the youth and education winner, Guitterez said, "These folks have a passion. They have a leadership component as well. They have helped our residents thrive stronger."

Beaumont USD Board of Trustees President Susie Lara accepted the award alongside
Board Vice President Melissa Williamson, Board Member Shawn Mitchell, and Superintendent
Mays Kakish.

"We really do love our district," Lara said from the stage. "As a school board member, I’m
very proud of the work we do for all kids."

Offstage, Kakish said, "There is nothing more rewarding than serving this community’s children."
