SAN BERNARDINO, CA — Mattresses made in a San Bernardino facility and sold at Costco stores in the Bay Area are being recalled due to mold risk, according to authorities.

There have been 541 reports of mold on the Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch and Novaform DreamAway 8-inch mattresses, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in an announcement, noting about 48,000 mattresses were at risk.

The mattresses made by Radnor, Pennsylvania-based FXI Inc. were manufactured with foam that may have been exposed to water, allowing mold to develop and posing a health risk to people with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs or allergies. No injuries have been reported, according to the commission.
