Optum Closing Urgent Care Locations In Beaumont, Highland, Redlands

Nearly 100 Inland Empire Optum employees are affected. Other closures are occurring in Alameda, Los Angeles and Orange counties.

BEAUMONT, CA — Optum urgent care facilities in Beaumont, Highland and Redlands are closing.

On July 18, the healthcare company owned by UnitedHealth Group informed the California Employment Development Department it was laying off 524 people in 13 areas across the state. In its letter, the company identified the cuts as layoffs and "departmental closures."

The Inland Empire Optum locations slated to close and the number of employees affected include:

  • 839 Highland Springs Avenue, Beaumont — 21 employees
  • 81 S. Highland Springs Avenue, Beaumont — 2 employees
  • 2 W Fern Avenue, Redlands — 10 employees
  • 245 Terracina Boulevard, Redlands — 35 employees
  • 7000 Boulder Avenue, Highland — 26 employees

All the above locations are scheduled to permanently close by Sept. 16, according to the letter.

Closures elsewhere include Optum sites in Alameda, Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Layoffs include 161 out-of-state telecommuters connected to the Cerritos and El Segundo Optum offices. Both sites are expected to remain open — Optum's California headquarters are in El Segundo.

The reason for the cuts was unclear. Patch reached out to the company but did not receive a response about the layoffs or closures.
