Reche Canyon Road Flooded Amid Thursday Storm

REDLANDS, CA — A section of Reche Canyon Road flooded at Westwood Street, California Highway Patrol warned drivers.

On Thursday at 11 a.m., officers responded to the area where drivers reported water-covered lanes.

Drivers should be advised to "turn around, don't drown" rather than enter flooded roadways.

The Inland Empire remains under a flood watch until midday Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and possibly a thunderstorm would continue through the afternoon, with storm cells that could produce heavy rainfall. The chance of precipitation is 100%, meteorologists say.

New rainfall amounts to between a quarter and half of an inch is possible. Overnight, the chance of precipitation was 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Higher rainfall amounts were possible due to thunderstorms.

Thursday's high was projected to reach 55 degrees, and southeast winds were blowing at 15 to 20 mph through the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, the NWS reported.
