RivCo Restaurant Closures: Little Caesar's, Sandfish, Rubidoux Market

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — Six Riverside County restaurants were temporarily closed in November when inspectors noted potential health hazards, according to the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health. The latest Food Facility Closure report, dated Friday, Dec. 1, showed failing water heaters were primarily to blame for the November restaurant closures.

Each week, food facility inspectors make regular and unannounced inspections at restaurants, bakeries, delis, and bars across the county. Following rigorous checks, restaurants are issued grades ranging from "A" to "C." For anything under an "A" grade, restaurant owners can attempt to repair the issues before inspectors leave the premises. Still, some problems take longer to fix, leading to a downgrade or even a lengthy closure.

The restaurants below reopened with "A" grades after being closed between Nov. 2 and Nov. 30 for issues related to running safe and sanitary kitchens, according to the department's most recent Food Facility Closures Report.

In Cathedral City, Santorini Greek Cafe at 68375 E. Palm Canyon Drive remained closed after failing health re-inspections on Oct. 20. The restaurant has suffered reoccurring issues related to insufficient hot and cold running water. Inspectors downgraded the restaurant to a "C," and its permit was revoked until the owners could prove fixes were implemented. No reopening date was projected in the most recent reports.

A Jack in the Box— #5328 in Desert Hot Springs, located at 22600 Palm Drive, was temporarily closed on Nov. 14 due to insufficient hot and cold running water, the inspector's reports show. The restaurant owners made the plumbing fixes, and the restaurant was reopened with an "A" grade on Nov. 21, reports show.

In Jurupa Valley, Rubidoux Market, located at 2960 Rubidoux Boulevard, was temporarily shut down on Nov. 15 due to insufficient hot and cold running water and plumbing backup issues. The owners repaired the plumbing problems, and the market reopened on Nov. 16, one day later, inspection reports show.

A Little Ceasear's Pizza, #5868 in Moreno Valley, located at 14940 Perris Boulevard, Suite B, was temporarily closed Nov. 2, also due to plumbing issues. Inspectors noted a backup and failing of wastewater disposal at the pizza shop. The restaurant resolved the drainage issue one day later, on Nov. 3, reopening with a restored "A" grade.

In Palm Desert, Sandfish by Engin Onural, located at 1556 N Palm Canyon Drive, was temporarily closed on Nov. 14 due to insufficient hot and cold running water, health inspector reports noted. Reports show the restaurant resolved the plumbing issue and reopened with an "A" grade on Nov. 16.
