Semi-Truck Chain Reaction Crash On I-10 Backs Up Beaumont Traffic

A collision between two semi-trucks and an RV towing another car led to a full closure of eastbound I-10 Thursday morning.

BEAUMONT, CA — I-10 eastbound traffic was down to one lane Thursday morning after a major chain reaction crash between two semi trucks and an RV, California Highway Patrol reported.

It will take several more hours before lanes reopen after a major diesel fuel cleanup, according to CHP Officer Jason Montez.

At approximately 4 a.m., a tractor-trailer combination heading eastbound on I-10 rear-ended another tractor-trailer just east of Cherry Valley Boulevard.

"One of the big rigs crashed into an RV with a Honda in tow as it was traveling up the grade at approximately 45 to 50 miles per hour," Montez said.

The semi-truck drivers were taken by ambulance to local hospitals with minor injuries. The RV driver was checked out at the scene and did not require further treatment, Montez said.
