Suspect In Moreno Valley Killing Captured In Pomona

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced Thursday that Joe Miramontes Jr., 31,​ of Moreno Valley was arrested.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — After an arrest warrant was issued this week for a man authorities say gunned down a man in Moreno Valley, the search for the suspect has ended.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced Thursday that Joe Miramontes Jr., 31, of Moreno Valley was arrested.

He was taken into custody Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Laurel Avenue in Pomona, and he was booked on suspicion of murder at Riverside's Robert Presley Detention Center, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported.

According to the sheriff's department, Miramontes and Gilbert Ramirez, 30, were involved in a dispute at about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 24000 block of Bostwick Drive, near Cactus Avenue.

During the encounter, Miramontes allegedly pulled a handgun and shot the victim several times, then left the location, Sgt. Lance Stoyer of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

Deputies and paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced Ramirez dead at the scene. Ramirez was listed as Moreno Valley resident.

Central Homicide Unit detectives identified Miramontes as the alleged shooter and obtained an arrest warrant, according to the sheriff's department.
