U.S. Defeats Serbia in Water Polo Exhibition

The USA Men's National Team defeated Serbia for the second straight match, winning 9-5 in front of a sold out crowd in Riverside.

Tony Azevedo, Bret Bonanni and Josh Samuels each scored twice as the U.S. men’s water polo team defeated Serbia, 9-5, on Thursday at the Riverside Aquatics Complex at Riverside City College, for their second victory in two games in the four-game exhibition series.

The U.S. led 5-4 at halftime, then got goals from Samuels, Alex Bowen and Azevedo in the third quarter while shutting out Serbia.

U.S. goalkeeper McQuin Baron made eight saves.

Luca Cupido and John Mann also scored for the U.S., which won the opening game of the series, 12-10, Tuesday at UC San Diego.

The series will resume on Sunday at El Toro High School in Lake Forest.
