Belmont Shore Gas Prices Unchanged Heading into the Weekend

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged Friday, remaining just under $2.84.

BELMONT SHORES, CA - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged Friday for the second consecutive day, remaining at $2.839, after dropping 13 times in 14 days.

The average price is 1.3 cents less than one week ago but 9.5 cents higher than one month ago and 4.2 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"Last year at this time, Southern California gas prices were plunging rapidly because of excess supply of the winter blend of gasoline, which can only be sold at most local gas pumps until April 1 due to air quality requirements," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

"Unfortunately for motorists, at the moment there are no indications we will get a similar sharp plunge in prices before they start moving upward during the annual switch to using the summer blend of gasoline."
