Get Out Your Dino Costume and Be A Part of History!

The public is invited to a very special party at LEGOLAND California as they try to break a world record. Apparently it's a thing!

I'm amused. LEGOLAND is trying to break a a record for the most dinosaurs at a party. I wondered- Is it going to be the case that they will actually SET a record, because... there's not been any such record attempted? So I took a look on - you know - the interwebs.

The T-Rex Dance Party in Portland, Oregon hosted 380 dancing dinosaurs in June, 2022.

The record was broken in Dundurn, Saskatchewan with 1,163 inflatable dinosaurs in July 2023.

So. It's a thing. The number to beat is 1,163. If anyone can do it, LEGOLAND can. Their model is a little different. Your dinosaur costume can be one you already have, but must be head to toe. This makes me think that the 'riding a dinosaur' costume would not work. I could be wrong. That would be a question to ask LEGOLAND.

If you are having trouble figuring out how to sew your own dinosaur costume, you can do what most in the two preceding dance parties seem to have done, which is to purchase an inflatable dinosaur costume. It seems that it can be as little as $38.00 online.

For LEGOLAND's event, there is an incentive. Everyone in costume will be able to get same day admission (non-transferrable) to the park after the event.

LEGOLAND's Dinosaur Party is planned for March 3, 2024 7AM to 9AM.

Here are some details.

Register for the Dino Party here. Don't be late, because check in ends promptly at 8:00 AM.

You can't wear your costume during the regular park day. You will need to exit the park and re-enter.

It's a promotion for the new LEGOLAND Dino Valley. It's not open yet, but it will be later in the Spring (after the party).

Sample photos of acceptable costumes are included in this post.

I'm tempted to go. Not because I want a free pass to LEGOLAND (I'm a lifetime member, I get in for free), but because it sounds like fun and a once in a lifetime experience. I'm not inclined to use pre-made costumes, so I'd have to make a costume to be admitted in for the festivities. It's a 1 1/2 hour drive early in the morning. I'd have to leave home at 5:30 to be there at 7.

I'm thinking I'll watch it on the news. We will see.
