How to Make a Lunar New Year Dragon

Celebrate the year of the dragon by making a dragon yourself!

Makersville is planning the Kids Korner for the Long Beach - Qingdao Sister City Association's Lunar New Year event at the new 2nd and PCH mall in Long Beach!

That's a mouthful! To entertain and amuse, I am sharing with you one of the crafts we will do. You may do this craft now, or you may bring your family to the event and make your dragons with lots of other people on Saturday, February 17th between noon and 5 PM.

This dragon is made out of paper. It's super fun, and in this video, I show how to make the basic shape of the dragon, then feature the face one of my friends made. I did not devise the accordion folds for the dragon, I got it from this YouTube video. I did, however, make some changes so that the activity accommodates for larger numbers of people and simplifies the materials used.

The making of these activities is part of a Practical Microfactory and Handmade Carnival sponsored in part by the Port of Long Beach, without which the activities would not happen. Squigglemom is very grateful for this support.
