A Jamboree of Communication Styles, Mechanisms, Media

Internationally, scouts are celebrating the Jamboree on the Internet/Air. We're having our own kind of Jamboree at the Long Beach Sea Base!

The Sea Base Open House is this Saturday from 10AM to 3PM at the Long Beach Sea Base, 5875 E. Appian Way, Long Beach. If you get a chance to come, we'd love to have you!

Here's what we have so far. Come and play with us!

- Jamboree on the Internet, Jamboree on the air, Communications Day theme.
- The Emergency ops center will share how they communicate
- Troop 14 is helping with a new cache for Geocaching
- We'll have our 3d printer out (new one)
- We're sewing signal signs
- We're doing ciphers with Troop 14
- Youth YouTubers will be present to share how they communicate
- We're manipulating TeleToyland, which is a globally controlled internet based series of toys.
- I believe we will now have two ham stations- Yes, two!-and we will be talking to others around the world, but we will also be talking from one to the other! Maybe we'll do it in morse code!
- We've got a CB on deck.
- We've got a morse code activity
- We will have the Retro Pi project that two of our youth have been working on....
- One of our youth is building a BRAIGO (LEGO Braille printer) and is almost done.
- We're going to be programming the ozobot and trying to make a storytelling robot game.
- We're sharing a variety of programming styles.
- Some of our youth game designers are coming to share what they made in class.
- We'll be making instant board games and playing them.
- We're going to use the ham and internet communications to find scouts around the world to manipulate the toys in TeleToyland.
- We're going to have Dutch treats, and a mom who speaks Dutch to share with us.
- Callalloo Caribbean Kitchen has promised to share something. I hope the Trini patois. (a mix of French, Spanish, English).... I wonder if my Trini accent will show?
