LAPD Sergeant Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI In Long Beach

The sergeant, who works for the LAPD's Southeast Division, was off-duty and driving his own car at the time of the arrest.

LONG BEACH, CA – A Los Angeles Police Department sergeant was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and hit-and-run in Long Beach, authorities said Wednesday.

A car crashed into two parked cars in the 1500 block of Ocean Boulevard, near Falcon Avenue, about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, then drove away, according to Lt. G. Prieto of the Long Beach Police Department.

About 10 minutes later, the driver was located by police about a mile away in the 200 block of Alamitos Avenue, near Second Street, and taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run, Prieto said.

The sergeant was identified as Oscar Ontiveros, 46, who works for the LAPD's Southeast Division and was off-duty and in his own vehicle at the time of the crash, Fox11 reported.

Ontiveros was released into the custody of the LAPD, Prieto said.

There was no comment on the arrest from the LAPD.

No one was injured in the accident.
