50-Acre Fire Contained Near Vacaville

A 50-acre vegetation fire in Solano County was declared fully contained Saturday by Cal Fire.

VACAVILLE, CA — A 50-acre vegetation fire in Solano County was declared fully contained Saturday by Cal Fire.

The blaze southwest of Vacaville was named the Blue Fire because it started off Blue Mountain Drive, near the intersection with Interstate Highway 80.

The fire started on Friday at about 3:30 p.m. and was stopped from advancing by 5:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire. It was 100% contained as of 7 p.m. Saturday.

Crews will return for the next few days to patrol and ensure that there are no additional hot spots, Cal Fire said in a social media post.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.

The fire was initially estimated to be as large as 80 acres, but was revised downward to 60 and then 50 acres after better mapping data became available, Cal Fire said.

Firefighting air tankers supplemented ground crews from the department's Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit, along with firefighters from the Fairfield Fire Department, Suisun Fire Protection District, Vacaville Fire Protection District and Napa County Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
