In Benicia, Residents Replace White Lights With Blue To Support Police

A Benicia police Facebook posting shares a novel idea local residents are using to show their support for law enforcement personnel.

BENICIA, CA - Police on routine night patrol say they have recently noticed a change in the color of the lights that illuminate several porches and walkways in the Benicia area.

The color of the lights has been changed from white to blue.

Apparently, it's all part of a novel idea local residents are deploying to symbolically show their support for law enforcement in Benicia.

Tuesday night, Benicia Police Officer Polizziani met one of the supporters.

On a Facebook posting, Officer Polizziani thanks Mrs. Campbell and Samson, the family dog, after noticing the blue light on their yard during her patrol.

Mrs. Campbell told Officer Polizziani the family installed the blue light following the tragedy in Baton Rouge this month.

Police say the Campbells are just one of many families in town who have showered them with support and kindness in this challenging time.

"No words can fully express our gratitude for this wonderful community!" say police.
