Summer’s here and the harvest is in full swing! That means long strings of refrigerator cars traveling east carrying California’s agricultural bounty east to the rest of the country. So come to the Carquinez Model Railroad Society’s August 24-25 Open House and watch us recreate these scenes in HO scale on a world class model railroad! Enjoy the artistry and craftsmanship! And don’t forget to try our Scavenger Hunt!
We’re open both days from 10 AM to 4 PM both days. We're located at 645 Loring Avenue in Crockett across from C&H Sugar.
Our 36' x 60' HO scale model railroad depicts the Southern Pacific/Union Pacific railroad from Oakland, across the Sierra Nevada mountains, to Sparks, NV on three levels. Our railroad allows you to walk alongside the trains as they journey from Oakland, up through Berkeley and Richmond, over to Crockett and Martinez, and across the bridge to Fairfield. From there, it’s a trip up the stairs – the trains use a helix - to Davis, and on to Sacramento and Colfax. From there you wind your way across the Sierras arriving in Sparks, NV.
The trip is great, the scenery and detail are fantastic, our members are friendly, we’re happy to answer your questions, and you only need to come to Crockett! Make a day of it and check out Crockett and enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants. We’re looking forward to seeing you! And don’t forget to check out our Gift Shop!
Model railroading is a great hobby! Think of it as a social multi-player role playing kinetic art form. We welcome new members and offer Youth, Senior, and Family memberships. Ask a member for more information. Membership has its rewards!
