Berkeley Election Results: Did Measures L, M, N Pass?

BERKELEY, CA — All votes cast in Berkeley and Alameda County on Tuesday have been tallied, along with mail-in ballots that have been received through Tuesday, according to the Alameda County Election website, which released the final vote totals at 9:41 p.m.

Mail-in ballots will continue to be received by Alameda County in the days ahead which means that the lead in some races could change. The ballots needed to be postmarked by Tuesday in order to be valid.

Measure L, a $650 million bond issue to fund affordable housing; repair streets and sidewalks; underground utilities; and enhance buildings, infrastructure, and safety appears headed for defeat. Current vote totals show it passing by 55% of the vote, but it needs 66% for approval.

Measure M is currently ahead with 61 percent of the vote. It would tax absentee property owners who leave homes and apartments vacant for the majority of the year.

Measure N calls for 3,000 new units of low-rent housing. It is currently passing.

In the hotly contested Alameda County District Attorney's race Terry Wiley has a 6,000 vote lead over Pamela Price.
