Electric Transformer Causes Explosion At Soquel Post Office

The malfunctioning of the transformer reportedly caused an outage.

SOQUEL, CA -- The malfunctioning of a transformer reportedly caused an explosion Wednesday morning at the Soquel post office. KION reported a "Pacific Gas and Electric transformer blew underground near the post office" before 10 a.m.

More than 1,700 customers are without power in the region. It is expected to be restored around 2:45 p.m., according to PG&E.

No other information was immediately available.
